VIEWTY II (2023)
VIEWTY 𝙸𝙸 explores the necessity for speaking up the truth vs staying quiet, and researches the conditioning of beauty standards, suppressed expression, abuse of power within women, while celebrating the freedom of movement and speech and the power and beauty of authentic expression.
In this co-creation, Laura Sofia and Ivelisse Gonzalez, dive into an exploration of what their expression and authenticity means to them, using authentic inner expression as a reference of beauty– specifically, working within the context of the women’s body and expression as it is, questioning the submissive and disempowering conditioning of social standards promoted by today’s media.
They focused on merging meaningful movement with text, assembling a piece in a set of 4 parts as an invitation to reflect on the gap between modern-day society’s representation of expression and beauty and the way inner beauty and its full expression is experienced by each of us as individuals. To what extent are we influenced by society’s demanding standards of aesthetics and physical appearance and real expression?
